Trade mark Registration Process:

Before filing your trademark application, it’s important to conduct a trademark search to ensure that your trademark isn’t already registered or in use by another party. You can conduct a search on the Ministry of Economy’s website or hire a trademark attorney to assist you.

Once you’ve conducted a trademark search, you can file a trademark application with the Ministry of Economy. The application should include the following information:

• A clear representation of the trademark
• A list of goods and services associated with the trademark
• Details of the applicant, including their name, address, and nationality
• The application must also be accompanied by a filing fee, which varies depending on the number of classes of goods and services you want to register your trademark under.

After filing your trademark application, the Ministry of Economy will examine it to ensure that it meets the requirements for registration. This examination includes a review of the trademark’s distinctiveness and similarity to other trademarks.

If your trademark application is approved, it will be published in the UAE’s Trademark Gazette for a period of 30 days. During this period, third parties may oppose.

If there are no oppositions to your registration of trademark during the publication period, the Ministry of Economy will issue a trademark registration certificate to you.

Trademark registrations in the UAE are valid for 10 years, after which they can be renewed for additional 10-year periods.

How much does a Trademark Registration Cost?

Applicants will need to pay around AED 8,700 for the trademark or brand registration in the UAE. This  cost in the UAE does not include any legal and translation fees that you may have to pay. Applicants can pay to register trademark in the UAE cost through the Ministry of Economy website itself.
